With new international distinctions, European recognition, and the announcement of a new Technical Director.
The Greek Beer Awards Event Night took place successfully on Friday, May 8, 2026, at the “Miltiadis Evert” Amphitheatre in Technopolis City of Athens.
In its 9th edition, the competition brought together breweries, beer professionals, HoReCa representatives, journalists, and beer enthusiasts from Greece and abroad, once again confirming the international profile of the institution.
Since 2017, the Greek Beer Awards have aimed to promote quality beer and strengthen beer culture across the Mediterranean and Europe.
Top distinctions were awarded to “Crispy Pils” (gold medal in the Pils category) by Strange Brew Athens as Top Lager and “Soul of the Party” (gold medal in the India Pale Ale category) by nomadic brewery Midnight Circus Gypsy Brewing as Top Ale. Among the distinguished Greek breweries were Mykonos Brewing Company and Standard Microbrewery of Thessaloniki. International awards were also presented, with Poland’s Browar Trzech Kumpli and Italy’s Mister B Brewery attracting attention, while Hop Thirsty Friends stood out from Cyprus.

During the event, the organizers also presented the official endorsement of the Greek Beer Awards by the European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU), an important European recognition further strengthening the competition’s international profile and credibility. At the same time, Markus Raupach was officially announced as the new Technical Director of the institution, starting from Greek Beer Awards 2027.
The Greek Beer Awards 2026 are held under the auspices of the Hellenic Republic Ministry of Tourism and the Greek-Italian Chamber of Commerce in Athens. The competition is organized by BeerBartender and was hosted within the framework of the World of Beer Festival – The Great Beer Festival of Athens.

About the Greek Beer Awards
The Greek Beer Awards is the only international beer competition after blind tasting in Greece. It was organized for the first time in 2017, by BeerBartender and since 2022 it has expanded to countries in Southeast and East Europe and the Mediterranean. Breweries, microbreweries, and nomadic breweries participate in the competition, which send their samples to be tested by experienced and renowned judges, who are specially invited for this purpose to our country. With the motto: “We support good brews since 2017”, the annual Greek Beer Awards aims, among other things, to connect Greek beers with international markets and unite beer communities across participating countries through the hashtag #UnitingBeerCommunities.
