Italian journalist and writer Maurizio Maestrelli will be the Head Judge of the Greek Beer Awards for a second consecutive year.

Maurizo Maestrelli is a recognized beer and spirits journalist and judge, attending many world-famous competitions. Founder of Milano Beer Week. Winner of “Best article on Italian Craft Beer” first edition in 2007. Writer for Good Beer Hunting, Il Sole 24 Ore, Gambero Rosso, Bargiornale. Contributor at Beer & Bar Magazine and Editor in Chief at Il Barman. Member of The British Guild of Beer Writers.

Specialist in Italian beer market, microbreweries and pubs. Author of “Birre”, short stories about 30 iconic beers, “Speakeasy, the most secret bars in the world”, “Anthologin” and “La grammatica della Birra”. Contributor to 1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die and the Pocket Beer Book.

Maurizo attended the Greek Beer Awards for the first time as a judge in 2018, then in 2021, and as a Head Judge in 2023, succeeding Tim Hampson.
